Social Emotional IEP Goals

Task initiation is an important skill for students to learn to succeed in the classroom. However, task initiation can be challenging for some students with special needs. Scaffolded IEP goals are designed to help these students progress in this area. The goals are progressively more challenging and often accompanied by a task analysis that breaks down the task into smaller steps. As the student completes each goal, they move on to the next one until they can initiate the task independently within 2 minutes. This process can benefit students as it helps them learn new skills and improve their classroom performance. However, it is also important for teachers to provide support and guidance throughout the process. By scaffolding the goals and providing ample support and encouragement, teachers can help their students master this important skill.
