Social Emotional IEP Goals

Following instructions is an important skill for students to learn, both in and out of the classroom. Unfortunately, some students struggle with this concept, whether due to challenges with listening skills or other issues. For these students, individualized education plans (IEPs) can be a helpful tool. IEP goals are designed to scaffold learning, meaning that they start with simple concepts and build upon them as the student progresses. For students who struggle with following instructions, IEP goals can help by breaking down the skill into smaller, more manageable pieces. By working on these goals in a structured way, students can gradually develop the skills they need to be successful in school and in life.
